Activities For the
Feeling a bit adventurous? The list below shows adventurous activities for you to try. Please note that this is not a comprehensive list but these are activities which we have had positive feedback from the guests at our YOLO Spaces properties.
Shark Cage Diving
White Shark Diving Company based in Gansbaai are deeply committed to conservation. They run daily trips to educate visitors about Great White Sharks and their current conservation initiatives. Cage diving trips give visitors the opportunity to see great white sharks in their natural environment. The shark cage dive takes place out at Dyer Island, 15 minutes by boat from Gansbaai. The cage is dropped at the diving site and guests are allocated diving gear. Guests take turns in the eight-man floating cage to experience thrilling underwater views of this majestic apex predator. When not in the cage, passengers can enjoy sightings of the white sharks and other sea life from the viewing deck of the boat.
Whale watching with Ivanhoe Sea Safaris in a custombuilt whale watching boat that launches from the quaint fishing harbour of Gansbaai, which is a 35 minute scenic drive from Hermanus and a 2 hour drive from Cape Town. Whale watching season runs from June to December and the journey generally lasts 2 hours. You can expect to see whales, dolphins, seals and an array of coastal marine fish and birds. Trip times are from 7am to 10am and 1pm to 3.30pm.
Kaskazi Kayaks & Adventures
Three Anchor Bay
They operate from the beach at Three Anchor Bay and embark on a 3 – 5 km journey either towards Granger Bay or Bantry Bay. The view of Signal Hill, Lion’s Head, Table Mountain and the 12 Apostles is unforgettable. The trip to Granger Bay takes you past the Green Point Lighthouse, the wrecks of the Seafarer and RMS Athens and to one of the favourite dolphin hangouts. The 2hour trip casts off daily and can be done year around, but the most predictable seas are August to October.
Para-Pax Tandem Paragliding
Enjoy an exhilarating tandem paragliding flight from Signal hill or Lions head. It is by far probably one of the most exciting adventure sports in Cape Town.
No other activity would let you enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Table Mountain, the City Bowl with no windows to block your view! No matter how nervous you might feel before takeoff (or for some, even the very thought of paragliding), the experienced team will put you at ease.
Once you are in the air enjoy a bird’s eye view of one of the most beautiful cities in the world!
